We have a NHS client who use our hosted Moodle LMS for their current staff training. Currently, their admins then manually transfer the completion and grades onto the NHS ESR (Electronic Staff Record) system for each user, but this is understandably a time consuming process.

Their isn't currently an API available that allows direct transfer of data but I need to see if you think this is something possible to develop bespoke? Even if there was a way to create something that can download records from Moodle that could be uploaded to ESR.

Attached is a few pdfs with more info on ESR for reference. Further info can be supplied on request.

Budget is TBA but client is willing to be pay if a suitable solution can be found.

    Hi Mark,

    We propose building a custom Moodle reporting export module that generates ESR-compatible data files automatically. To proceed accurately, we will need:

    1. ESR import template (CSV/Excel format specification)

    2. Required employee identifier mapping field (e.g. payroll ID, staff ID)

    3. Required frequency of data export (daily/weekly/monthly)

    4. Confirmation of mandatory fields for ESR upload

    5. Any existing sample files currently used by admins

    Similar past work available upon request.

    Hi Mark, can you please tell if the NHS ESR system supports any import formats (CSV/XML) that we can map Moodle completion and grades data into?
