Because we are behind in the development of our application we want an function written in Visual Basic which will subsequently be integrated into our existing application by us. There is no requirement for you to know about our overall application only the details of the Function requirements which is defined below.
Rules & Requirements
The Function to be developed must be fully commented in English.
For development and testing you will need a USB to RS232 converter using an FTDI chip such as the one at Radiospares with part number 687-7806 FTDI Chip USB to RS232 Converter.
The function needs to use an event wait for the insertion or removal of the USB converter in and out of the computor port. When a USB converter is inserted into the port on the PC, the function must confirm that the converter uses the FTDI chip or not and the COM port number assigned to be used by our application.
Even if the converter is not an FTDI chip converter we need that information return so the user can be told to use the correct converter.
On removal on the USB converter it must ensure that it is the FTDI converter being removed and not another USB device and return the COM port number removed.
In our view for an expert in all things USB and Visual Basic this should be something that can be completed in a few hours assuming you already have an FTDI Chip converter.
