We run a free piece of software called Buddybackup (www.buddybackup.com) and we have lost our developer and are looking for someone to work with on an ongoing basis to keep the software maintained, stable and ultimately develop new features as time goes on. Buddybbackup is written in C++ and consists of a client application which sits on a PC and a 'Supernode' which is a central server, which we host which contains the database (MYSQL) of users, settings and connections.
The Supernode should be sending out emails whenever there is a new user and also we should be able to connect to it to get some basic stats, but this is not working currently, although the service maybe running. In the first instance we need to get the Supernode, up and running and creating emails again and then secondly we need to update the client to support Windows 10 (it does currently work with Windows 10 but not officially supported) and ensure we have a stable version.
Part of the current issues at the moment could well be in the database and the amount of concurrent connections it is able to take so good database skills are also required.
In the first instance, I would like to understand if you feel this project is within your capability and if so if you are interested in it. If so then I propose signing an NDA after which I would give you access to the code repository on Github so you can familiarise yourself with the code and you can give us a better idea of the costs involved in you doing this project.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Regards
Peter
