I am looking for someone who is experienced with scraping data from a website and building a search interface on Wordpress.
I own a Brazil travel website which is built in Wordpress. You can take a look - it's called BrazilBeyondRio.com. It contains about 130 pages, each one devoted to an individual hotel. I now need help from a developer to build an interface that allows a user to search these pages, based on data scraped from Booking.com. Ordinarily I would try to use Booking.com's API, but they are no longer accepting new API partners, so it would be good to know if data scraping can be a solution?
Searches would be based on the following search criteria:
- Dates a user intends to travel (data from Booking.com)
- Location/s they intend to visit (data from Booking.comI)
- By hotel category (my site has 9 categories of hotel, and each hotel page is already tagged with the appropriate categories).
The results would then display the hotel pages on my site that correspond with the search. Users can apply filters to the search results, e.g. price (i.e. the lowest price per night, based on data from Booking.com), by amenities (Pets approved, English spoken, Beach access, etc. - these categories come from my own site data for each hotel page).
Users will then click through to the relevant hotel page on my site. Users can learn more about the property and then click through to Booking.com to complete their booking. All links through to Booking.com would need to be affiliate links connected to my Booking.com affiliate account.
In a nutshell, I want people to use my site content to explore this curated list of hotels, but ultimately make their booking on Booking.com.
The budget given is a ballpark figure, but isn't set in stone. You don't need to be in the UK, I just need you to be able to speak and understand English.
If anyone has concerns that scraping data isn't a good solution, please let me know, as I haven't done data scraping before. Is it possible for data to be scraped each time a new search is carried out? Or would it have to be done once or twice a day and the data kept for the purposes of the search? Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks for your time.
