Hi there, I hope you're well. We are Immersive Gym, and we are creating ultra-immersive fitness environments that don't require VR headsets. I had a look at your profile and saw you that have extensive experience in developing VR applications and simulations, and thought you could be a good fit for our project.
Immersive Gym is a custom-built studio which can display fitness content across multiple screen to create an immersive experience. The content varies from fitness classes to interactive cycling to wrap-around videos for meditation, Pilates and yoga. Immersive Gym is for private residential spaces, and also for semi-private spaces such as corporations, hotels, and private members clubs. Immersive Gym is easy to use and provides a high-quality fitness environment which motivates you to keep coming back and to work harder.
We have a physical studio in West London where we have built a full working prototype.
We use a piece of software called 'TouchDesigner' which lets us take nearly any piece of video content (such as 360 degree video), and display and map it correctly to a physical space.
We are currently developing a user interface to control the studio. The user interface is built in Unity and runs on Windows. It is nearly complete but needs to be updated to run on a touchscreen and we are also looking to implement a method of interacting with Bluetooth fitness peripherals.
1. We would like to modify this user interface so that it received inputs from Windows touchscreens such as the HP E230t. Right now it only will respond to mouse clicks
2. We would also like to add Bluetooth support to our project. This involves adapting it so that it connects to cycling turbo trainers (such as the Tacx Neo), rowing trainers (such as Waterrower), running machines (such as the Technogym MyRun), and heart rate monitors (Wahoo Tickr). These devices each operate using Bluetooth GATT protocols, and some documentation can be provided on them as well as access to hardware. The app would then transmit that data to TouchDesigner using OSC commands (this protocol has already been implemented)
I hope this project sounds interesting to you. Down the line we also have other projects we are exploring which involve creating virtual worlds in Unreal Engine, and motion tracking individuals. I'd be happy to talk about this project and toher more. We have set a temporary budget but we can alter this once you've seen the more detailed design document which we have produced. As there is hardware involved in this project, we would like to do a day on site so we run through the system and test equipment. We are happy to cover expenses as needed.
Kind regards,
Theo
