Experience Level: Expert
We are looking for an experienced React Native developer to help us enhance an existing healthcare mobile application that is already live on both iOS and Android.
The core platform is stable, but we need to add several new features and improve parts of the existing functionality. This is not a project from scratch—we're looking for someone who can quickly understand an existing codebase and implement high-quality enhancements.
**Scope of Work:**
* Add appointment rescheduling and cancellation workflows
* Enhance patient profile management
* Improve medication reminder functionality
* Implement secure document upload for lab reports and prescriptions
* Add in-app messaging improvements between patients and providers
* Optimize app performance and fix existing UI issues
* Integrate a few additional third-party healthcare APIs
**Requirements:**
* Strong experience with React Native
* Experience integrating REST APIs
* Familiarity with healthcare or HIPAA-compliant applications is a plus
* Ability to work with an existing codebase
* Good communication and regular progress updates
**Nice to Have:**
* Experience with Firebase
* Node.js backend knowledge
* Previous work on healthcare, telemedicine, or EMR/EHR applications

Before estimating the effort accurately, could you clarify whether the existing app already has a modular architecture (such as feature-based modules with separate API/service layers), or will part of Phase 1 involve refactoring areas of the codebase before implementing the new healthcare features? That will have the biggest impact on both delivery time and long-term maintainability.
