Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: We install & support Macs for business
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Num. of modules: 1
Description of every module: We have a client who is using a web-based business management system called MedDBase, which is used for medical practices. This system has embedded Word documents in it that you can download to then edit/print.
On a Windows PC, when you download the document, it first downloads a small XML file, which has a link to the actual document inside it. This link is then parsed through the web browser somehow, and the document is then downloaded.
On a Mac, you just end up with an XML file that has a .meddbase file extension or similar, so it's a bit useless. If you grab that XML file and open it up in a text editor, you can see the link hidden within it. Grab that link and put it in a web browser, and the Word file is then downloaded.
So - all we need is a very simple Mac app that would sit in the background, wait for a .meddbase file to drop into the Downloads folder, and grab the link from within and send it to the default web browser.
Please submit a quotation of expected costs and timeframe to complete.
We will supply an example XML file.
Description of requirements/functionality: As above. Error reporting would be nice, but not 100% necessary.
Specific technologies required: Has to be a native Mac OS X app. Customer is using OS X 10.8 and 10.9
OS requirements: Mac OS
Extra notes: Please submit a quotation of expected costs and timeframe to complete. We will supply an example XML file.
