Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
I run a Shopify store (Basic plan) using the Dawn theme and need a trade-only ordering system built via theme code (no apps).

Requirements:

Only customers tagged trade can:

View trade products

See trade pricing

Access trade ordering page

Trade products:

Identified by product tag trade

Hidden from full search + predictive search

Noindexed for Google

Not purchasable by non-trade users (even via direct URL)

Shipping:

Trade customers always pay £8 flat shipping

Trade products are assigned to a separate shipping profile

Trade customers may also purchase retail products

Shipping remains £8 total for trade customers

Cart rule:

Minimum 8kg of trade products required to checkout

Retail-only carts unaffected

Public trade page:

Login link

Trade users redirected to ordering page after login

Must be implemented cleanly within Dawn theme.

    Do you already have a “Trade” customer tag and trade product tags set up, or should the implementation include creating and managing these tags as part of the theme customization?

    Hi Olga, Thanks for your job posting and I have some questions for your project:

    For the 8kg minimum requirement, should the validation be calculated strictly from the total weight of products tagged trade in the cart (excluding retail items entirely), and do you require this enforcement at the cart level only or also via checkout validation as a safeguard?

    For predictive search filtering, would you like trade products completely excluded from both the predictive search dropdown (/search/suggest.json) and standard search results, or should they become visible dynamically when a logged-in customer with the trade tag performs the search?
