Here is my requirement.

I want to have a grid with all shipments I send with my carrier (UK Mail) in the Magento backend. This grid will show each and every shipment with the following information in the other columns:

- Current status (Delivered, Collected, In Transit, Delayed, etc..)
- Date / time stamp of the last update.
- Corresponding Magneto order number (click able so you can jump to it).

Each of the above columns will be click able to sort the grid in ascending / descending order. It will also have the filter box at the top so I can for example search for all shipments which are "Delayed".

I would like to be able to click each tracking number and it give me the history of tracking events in date / time order with any relevant notes or error codes.

How I will do this:

UK Mail have given me an FTP account where each 30 minutes all shipments relevant to my account that have a tracking update (delivered, delayed, collected, rearranged, misrouted, etc) which is uploaded. You will need to create a cron job which downloads all the files from FTP every 30 minutes and update the tracking grid.

Why I want to do this?

I want to be able to see which shipments are not delivered and why. This will enable me to contact a customer before it is too late. I can then keep them up to date with the problem and act before they contact me.

I attach to this job the technical documents which come from UK Mail - with some example files which you would download from the FTP server.
