Magento problem

We have an issue with Magento not showing the correct products in the child categories of the website. Have tried re-indexing and also removing everything from each of the categories and reloading but still getting the same results.

Previous PPH freelancer is currently unavailable and taking a holiday - so need some help solving the problem urgently. Need someone with good knowledge of Magento and php - I would expect the problem to be somewhere if the code where the Magento system is saying false when the code line should be saying true.
