Magento 2 Extension - Automatically Fill in SKU when adding new product

General information for the website: Auto generate a SKU number when creating a new product
Description of requirements/features: I need an extension which creates a SKU formatted D0001
Where 1 would be the new ID of the product being entered

When opening the page to add a brand new product, the SKU should be filled in. The user should still be able to update the SKU if required.

For example if there are already 25 products in our catalog. When I go to add a new product, the SKU filled in should be
D0026

*note how there are only two 0's
