Add free gift to Shopify cart - (NEED DONE TODAY)

We want to add a free gift to cart when value is over £40 and then remove it if value drops below £40 - This needs to be only for new customers or customers with 0 orders.

We're Shopify Plus so can use script editor for this.

Use liquid to check the customer object for past purchases using https://shopify.dev/docs/api/liquid/objects/customer#customer-orders_count If this is 0 output the template logic that triggers the offer

Use JS with the AJAX API to add the free gift to the basket https://shopify.dev/docs/api/ajax/reference/cart

Use the same AJAX API to remove the gift if the offer is no longer valid
