Thanks for reading. Firstly, I am looking to work directly with the person that will be carrying out the work. I will not award the job to anyone stating they are a project manager or simply subcontract the job to off-shore labour.
We have a staff portal which contains our rostering information and is accessed remotely via a very basic web interface which for the most part consists of grid views and the ability to request shifts as overtime with a command button.
I've got about 6 SELECT queries presently which display the information, an INSERT query that creates an "I would like this shift" record, and a DELETE query which will undo this action.
The current back end is an MS Access 2003 Jet database, and as the company has grown, our Access DB has started running like a slug on sedatives. I would like to move the data on to our SQL server to speed things up and open me up to working on a redevelopment of the back end at a later date.
Changing the data engine feels like a couple of hours work for someone that knows what they're doing and does it every day - for me, it's that irritating thing that I looked at about a year ago for 20 minutes, caused an Error 500, and put it back in its box. The current functionality is inelegant, but works for our purposes. I would also appreciate a quotation to not only fix this, but to make the web page responsive further down the line.

Hi Paul,
Are you open to other database e.g MySQL or you prefer to stick with MSSQL ? I am thinking of modern Bootstrap based dashboard application in PHP/MySQL combination.
Regards,
Shan -
Hi Paul, just a few questions if you don't mind. What is the Web front end written in and on what platform does it run on and what version of SQL Server do you have available ?
