Hello,

I’m looking to develop a method of logging events, our company is an electrical contractor. For high voltage operations the operator must contact a control engineer by phone and have instructions issued verbally but we need a better method of logging these instructions. Is excel spreadsheet the only option? The log will include location, operator, instruction, time date maybe a couple extra.

    Hi Robbie, if the log could be updated by both the operator or the engineer, a good, easy and simple solution could be to use Google Sheets. It can be accessed by concurrent users with a hyperlink. Would that be a feasible option for you?

    Do just want the Logging to place at the point of receipt i.e. by your engineer?
    Would the ability (dependent on internet connection in the field) to be able to record on a mobile or tablet into a central repository which can then be interrogated back at HQ, be of interest to you?

    In this case, you can directly use Excel, Word, Latex or Markdown to record, or directly use txt.

    In fact, due to the special features of telephone communication, there is no good way to accurately record them.
