I need an automated supermarket rota on Google Sheets

I need to make an automated supermarket employee rota on Google Sheets.
We currently use an automated rota that you can spend all day working on and then it just wipes everything you've done, so we need to come up with something new that actually works.

In attached screenshot 1 you'll see a list of workers' names in the first column, followed by columns of the hours they're rota'd to work each day.
What I need is for someone to automate it so that when I put in people's hours and departments, it will group everyone working in the same department together and colour code it so all departments are a different colour (see screenshot 2)
I don't need the sections at the top of that screenshot, but I do need a colour coded key for the departments.

Is this something you could do, and if so, how many hours would it take?
