I forgot my root MySQL password and I need someone to help me reset it RIGHT NOW. I will give you remote access to my laptop and I will log my laptop into our server remotely for you to work on it while I supervise. I need this done immediately, right now.
Yes, it's my server. I have Administrator remote desktop access as well as Plesk access, but no SuperUser access to my own database.
I tired the following procedure but it didn't work:
1. I created a text file called mysql-init.txt with the following command to reset the root MySQL password:
ALTER USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '1001GoFish*';
2. I stopped the MySQL Windows Service
3. I ran this program from C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin
C:\> mysqld
--defaults-file="C:\\ProgramData\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 8.0\\my.ini"
--init-file=C:\\mysql-init.txt
(as seen here: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/resetting-permissions.html)
That successfully updates the root MySQL password.
4. Log into MySQL via CMD> mysql -u -p
5. Then, using the newly acquired root MySQL root power, I granted the gf_imports db user all privileges using:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON database_name.* TO 'gf_imports'@'localhost';
(As seen here: https://chartio.com/resources/tutorials/how-to-grant-all-privileges-on-a-database-in-mysql/)
6. Then I logged into Plesk --> Databases --> Product_Imports -->PHPMyAdmin --> http://Server:localhost:3306 --> Variables -->
* Max User Connections (And I changed that to 5000 from 30)
* Max Connections (And I changed that to 5000 from 151)
But the problem is the MySQL Windows Service refuses to Start again after I changed the root MySQL password. You can see in Plesk --> Databases --> Size = 0 MB because the databases aren't being read after that whole process, but the variables can be successfully updated.
The only thing that brings back the Windows MySQL Service is to restart the Server, but when I do that all of the changes that are listed above ALL DISAPPEARS AND EVERYTHING GOES BACK TO THE PREVIOUS SETTINGS (Max Connections = 151 & Max User Connections = 30)
