Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the business: Small Lab
Database management system (DBMS): Microsoft Access
Description of requirements/functionality: I have a small lab in Greece which involves in Chemical Analysis. I need a simple Access database with I will be able to keep records of labs incoming samples. I have tried some things (I have small knowledge in Access), but I think it is time to have assistance for someone who is more familiar.
For this reason I attached you the basic concept (Access database), which I have created. Let my explain a little more.
In my lab samples are coming to be analysed for 4 kinds of analysis. This is in table : tblANALYSIS
The kind of samples are described in tblSAMPLE (some combinations are given)
In tblCOUNTRY you can find the countries from which the samples are coming (mainly from Greece)
Each Separate Record (eg SEDATIVES) in tblANALYSIS has its own table:
SEDATIVES --> tblSED
MALACHITE GREEN --> tblMG
ORGANOPHOSPOROUS --> tblOPP
ANTIBIOTICS --> tblANT
The first fields from each of the tblSED, tblOPP, tblMG, tblANT mainly identify the "BOOK OF LABs RECORDS"
Incoming No. Is a unique lab number for each sample coming in lab,
Protocol number is also a unique number for each sample. These two numbers (and their combination) can be changed every fiscal year (In 2013, eg there is not other combination Incoming and protocol number). In 2014, it is possible (!!!) to have a combination same as in 2013)
After that there are fields describing who is sending the sample (tblSENTER), with its own numbers, which are just field up records.
After result date (in all of the 4 tables tblSED, tblOPP, tblANT, tblMG), follows the compounds which are analysed in each case.The fields in one table does not exist in the other 3 tables.
Finally in the 4 tables there is a group of common fields, which are identical in all of these tables.
I hope that you are not confused up to now.
This which I want from my database is the obvious. To keep records of samples coming into lab. But I want some more. For eg:
Which samples came after a specific date?
How many samples came in eg 2014 (or in a period) for SEDATIVES, how many for MALACHITE GREEN and so on.
How many and what samples have been analyzed in a specific period?
In this case a double click in a field (eg protocol number) giving details of this specific sample would be a good idea
What samples, a senter, has sent in a period?
All the above I prefer to be in a datasheet mode.
These are some of the queries which are needed.
Of course forms for completing the nessessary records are also needed. I want to have a separate (or common, I do not care) form for each coming sample where I will be able to fill all the fields in the four tables.
From my experience I can understand that this stuff is not heavy for someone who is familiar with access databases.
Please take a look in the attached file and inform me if we can cooperate. If it is possible I would like to have a cost idea for designing this database.
Thanks in advance.
