Description
Experience Level: Expert
Cascade Leaf Tea Co., a specialty tea company based in Portland, Oregon, needs a well-built spreadsheet to track inventory, batches and reordering. Our current setup is a set of manual sheets that different people update inconsistently, and we regularly discover a stock or expiry problem too late.
We want a single, clean workbook — built in Excel, or Google Sheets if you would recommend it for shared editing — that our team can run without technical help. It should track incoming raw materials, allocate stock to batches with batch numbers and blend dates, monitor expiry dates, and flag when an item drops below a reorder point we set per product. On top of that we want a simple overview tab: current stock levels, items nearing expiry, and anything due to be reordered, readable at a glance.
The build should rely on formulas and built-in functions rather than custom scripting, so we are not dependent on a developer to keep it running. Data validation on entry fields to prevent the mistakes we currently make, clear structure, and locked formula cells so nobody breaks the calculations by accident. We would like a short written note on how the workbook is laid out and how to add a new product.
We will provide a sample of our existing sheets and the exact fields we track so you can scope accurately before quoting.
To be considered, please describe a comparable inventory or tracking workbook you have built, tell us whether you would recommend Excel or Sheets for this and briefly why, and confirm your timeline. Applications without examples of similar spreadsheet work will not be shortlisted.
