Simple Excel Spreadsheet Value count formula

Hi I have an excel spreadsheet with two sheets. The first sheet is raw data 'Data', the second sheet is a list of 653 values 'Values' in column A. I would like a formula that counts incidences of values in 'Data' and prints them alongside values in column B in 'Values'.
Column A in 'Values' has some leading spaces which should be removed.
I should be able to add to 'Data' and 'Values' and the formula remain intact.
I suppose if you're an excel whizz this project is a 10 minute job!... I am not :)
