Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Research into options of web enabling data analysis and proof of concept.
Background.
We are a small UK based consultancy that provides employee surveys using the Zoho Surveys platform. While the system provides some pdf report writing, mainly we export the data as CSV and use it to create dashboards using Excel. We also run statistical analysis. The advantage of using Excel for the dashboards is that we can use a wide range of freelancers to complete them (we do not have in house resource) and the client does not need a license for BI software in order to view them.
However, increasingly, clients are asking for data to be available in secure online format via a portal that is graphical and can be interrogated, e.g., a manger can view their data online in an easy to understand graphical format and can filter the data or compare between groups of respondents. While our Excel dashboard provides that, it is a standalone Excel file and is not online.
Our requirement.
We would like a white paper to be researched and written that provides in layman’s terms the various options available to us, with the pros and cons of each (including cost, difficulty, access to freelancers who could do it, data protection, risk and ease/cost of use by the end client).
This should include, if it is possible, an analysis of web enabling our current excel dashboard. The other options are likely to include the use of BI software (which we would need to outsource) but we are open to all pragmatic suggestions. Each of these suggestions should be explained in terms of requirements, pros and cons (as detailed above) and for the one that you feel is the most pragmatic/cost effective/low risk for us, we would either like a demo version (proof of concept created) or for you to link with another freelancer to create this. We would provide you with some sample data.
By the end of the project, you will have educated us as to the art of the possible and demonstrated your recommendation. We would therefore need to be able to discuss the report with you, probably via an online meeting.
If you are a specialist in one form of data visualisation, it is very important that the report is not simply a sales pitch for us to use you or your preferred media. We want all options explored even if you would not be the best person to provide such a service.
