    Could you please share which SQL database you are using and confirm whether the attached Excel format is fixed, or if I can improve it slightly for automated refreshes and the daily booking view? That will help me design the SQL-to-Excel connection and ensure the fleet, client and booking status data updates reliably.

    Hi Ross,

    A few quick questions before we confirm the fixed price:

    1. Which SQL database are you currently using?

    2. Are products, fleet quantities, clients, booking status, start dates and end dates already stored in separate/structured database fields?

    3. Would you like the Excel file to refresh automatically when opened, or would a Refresh button be preferable?

    4. Should users be able to move between weeks/date ranges directly within the Excel viewer?

    5. Will everyone using the spreadsheet already have network/VPN access to the database?

    Thank you for reaching out, the server is SQL Server version 17.0.1125,
    The stock is filtered by subgroups for quotes and by an asset number (linked to a subgroup) on contracts
    The dataset will need to be created to completed this

    Thanks Ross, that helps clarify the database side.

    Understood that the source is SQL Server 17.0.1125, with quote stock grouped by subgroups and contracted stock identified through asset numbers linked back to those subgroups. Since the reporting dataset still needs to be created, the first step would be to map the relevant tables/fields and define how quoted, booked/on-hire and available quantities are calculated.

    A couple of points would help confirm the structure:

    1. Are quote dates, contract/hire start and end dates, client details and status values already stored in the existing database tables?

    2. Would read-only access to the relevant SQL Server database/schema be available so the relationships can be reviewed and the dataset/query created?

    3. Should quoted stock reduce the displayed availability immediately, or should availability only reduce once a quote becomes a confirmed booking/contract?
