The brief is to build a data warehouse enabling the following:
1. A method of uploading a daily file (approx. 25k-30k rows per retailer) for each retailer (up to 10) in the format provided (see Asda Example 1.xls and Tesco Example 2.xls attached) – ideally to an FTP site you provide. Please specify how you would do this.
2. Automated import of the daily Retailer files into a data warehouse as soon as they are received (to the FTP site, or other).
3. Import of a master file into the data warehouse (example attached). Purpose of the master file is to associate a set of Master measures (Master Item Number, Master Item Description, Master Brand, Master Manufacturer, Master Category Level 1/Level 2/Level 3/Level 4 etc). Note: this master file must be easily accessible and very efficient to update – ideally in Excel. Please specify how you would do this.
4. The ability to generate a report (manually and/or scheduled) in the format provided (see Asda Report Example.xls attached as an illustration). This should enable the user to specify any of the following: Date Range + Retailer (one or multiple) + Master Category L1/L2/L3 or Retailer Category L1/L2/L3 (one or multiple).
5. The ability to generate new reports based on the data & measures above.
Please note: only providers who address the two questions highlighted in bold and underline will be considered.

Hi,
I also cannot to understand why you want to use the above file technology? Do you wan to pay monthly rate for a college who will handle these data???
Use database with fully online access. Develop an interface to upload and mine data from the database.
If interest I can represent you what I mean. The technology what you want is 30 years old. Forget it. -
Question: why upload the files to FTP site (or other) when Excel can do any import of data (e.g. if the files stay in a folder) and relevant reporting using Excel alone with VBA macros? If interested in an Excel-only solution, let me know to place a proposal. Thanks.
