3D Surface Analysis – Short Project Description
I am looking for someone experienced with CloudCompare and Python to perform a straightforward analysis of 3D scans of worked stone surfaces.
The tasks are:
Isolate a clearly defined macro-feature (working trace).
Determine the principal direction of the macro-feature.
Identify and analyse the micro-striations within that feature.
Measure the orientation of the micro-striations relative to the macro-feature.
Extract cross-sectional profiles and calculate the radius (curvature) of the surface.
The objective is a simple, well-documented geometric analysis with figures and measurements. I am not looking for a complex geological or archaeological interpretation—only accurate extraction and quantification of the surface geometry. The fixed price is pr 10 tasks. Meaning 100 usd pr scan analyzed. Possible long term. Easy job for the right person. Only want to work with experienced person and work directly with you (not through third person in bigger companies). Looking forward to work with you.

Could you let me know which 3D scan format you'll be providing (e.g. PLY, STL, OBJ, or another format)?

We'd appreciate if you could clarify a few points:
• Which 3D scan file formats will be provided (PLY, OBJ, STL, LAS, etc.)?
• Will the scans already be cleaned, or will preprocessing and noise removal be required?
• Do you have sample scans and an example of the expected output report?
• Are there specific CloudCompare plugins or Python libraries you would like us to use?
• Would you be able to share one sample scan for an initial review? If confidentiality is a concern, we're happy to sign an NDA before reviewing your data.
