15,000 items on an excel spreadsheet need indexed and sorted.

I have around 15,000 pdf items listed in a spreadsheet and hyperlinked. Most of them will need to be deleted. The current file names, dates and data have been mixed up and now need to be opened one by one in order to confirm that an item can be deleted. The items do not need to be read as such. It will be obvious to the reader upon first glance as to what to do with the item - keep it or discard it. Once this is done, the kept items need to be tagged / indexed into a few groups.
