Existing WordPress site (approx 3 years old) needs updating (WordPress and plugin versions).

- A review needs to be done to and key plugins identified and updated. WordPress version update and robots.txt review.
- setup a test/dev version of the site
- Address why the site is having 404 error issues.
- Check the site config/ database to make sure there is no historical data from previous sites/version of the site.

    One thing I'd like to clarify is whether the 404 errors started after a previous migration or WordPress update, or have they been present for some time? Understanding when they first appeared will help identify whether the root cause lies in permalink changes, legacy redirects, plugin conflicts, or historical database remnants rather than simply treating the symptoms.

    Its shared hosting.
    There is no staging / dev environment; hence the requirement for one.
    no custom plugins.
    I believe they appeared after an SEO plugin update.
