Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
General information for the website: Advanced Directory
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: Creation of an information panel displayed (code only, I design UI) within wordpress theme environment in the page as content, or, as script that can be added to the text widget (open to suggestions). A display of detailed marine weather information fed from places like MET office weather sources.
Other graphs and weather related details fed from other web weather sources. My initial focus is on the UK, France, Netherlands and Spain area, later on in time the sources will be different for the pacific and will require adaptation so this is a ongoing job that will need more done later, and updates.
Description of requirements/features: I can provide an example of the UI that explains what I need the code to be doing. In my mind it doesn't seem that complicated so I think an experienced coder will take one look at this and see what I'm trying to do and know how to do it. This is experimental, so some ideas might not work and we might need to find workarounds.
It's essentially a weather widget like any other, except it's more detailed and aimed at sea faring humans who really like weather information with charts and lots of it! (See Attached Image for Basic Outline)
Rather than working from where the visitor of the page is located it displays all the information based on the physical location (town) that the page is based upon, each page is different.
Specific technologies required: PHP, Java, SQL, HTML, Jquery, whatever is most suitable.
Extra notes: Please contact with any questions, quotes and ideas of how easily this can be done etc. Once there are a few people interested I'll try to contact individuals and briefly talk it over.

For MET UK see: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/marine-observations/#?tab=marineObsMap
You can see what I refer to in the JPEG below, boey's and different sources of data, all leading to their own page. The bulk of the data for page location is here, wind speed, temperature, etc.
For tidal, this is a good example for the UK: http://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Leven/tides/latest
Other sources for reference: http://weather.mailasail.com/Franks-Weather/Weather-Forecasts-On-The-Internet
Some of these will be easy, just lovely plain text, or a satellite image that's updated.
One more: http://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=9.86,44.53,2048

Updates to this page will go below this line
_______________________________________________________
*Also: I will need to make a lot of pages, so it will need to be relatively straight forward and quick to add new location data. Slight code editing not an issue, basic interface preferable.
*So in the UK there will be 250 locations, each location (page) will have a different weather location. I understand there is a plugin that allows a different widget for each page, this could be used alongside. Also shortcode could be a solution, provided there is a way of predefining the options for location and then generating the shortcode.
*Don't pay too much attention to other countries, that's later on down the line and me just mentioning possible repeat work, if your not busy. The main goal is the UK.
*API's is the term I was missing.
*This is open to developers worldwide.
