Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
Within Wordpress, we're using a custom post type (CPT UI) and some custom fields using ACF Pro.
These custom posts are application forms, which have a cut-off deadline for applications.
We want the post to have some metadata / taxonomy associated with it once it expires, so that they can be archived as such, for record-keeping.
The post type will be, for example:
– Apples
– Oranges
– Bananas
These items will need to “expire” at a set time, and when they do, they should be marked "expired" and/or move in to the “Expired” category (the term 'category' is used loosely here to describe the behaviour).
This way, you could categorise “Expired – Apples” for example, and so on a page the visitor would just see all the “Expired”, “Apples”
Likewise, you could just see the “Expired” ,“Oranges”
Or at top level you could see all the “Expired” items in the category.
(In an eCommerce / WooCommerce sense, this would be the equivalent of using “Attributes” as well as “Categories”
This doesn’t need to be a live/Ajax type sorting – just being able to set up page URLs to the relevant queries.)
Something like:
../category/apples&expired=true
In the post editor, there is a date/time picker that the admin can set the expiry date.
Also, there are radio buttons which will set the post taxonomy, using the ACF "save_post" filter to update the posts taxonomy value using the submitted values: https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/acf-save_post/
We just need the PHP coding behind the UI to make the functions happen.
We would like to speak on Skype or Telephone to discuss the requirements and ensure they are completely understood before commencing.
Thanks, we look forward to working with you.
