Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the website: Student housing, but the plugin is for local businesses
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: Mulitsite
Description of every page/module: SHORT BRIEF:
I want a map created, full of custom pins. The admin will be able to add 'pins' onto this map, with custom text, logos etc. This map will then appear on every listing on our site. Effectively a business directory.
Description of requirements/features: Move’m PIN, detailed brief
[NOTE: It’s worth mentioning at this point, My whole site is a Multi-site, therefore this would need to be transferable between mutlisites, with different PINs on each’. This is because the Google API can limit the amount of PINS, so if we do them separately we can get more on each map. It makes to sense to organise by city. We user a plugin called NS-Cloner to create our new cities.]
Summarised admin process:
1- Admin can access the ‘PIN’ tab
2- Admin then can view pins in a similar way you can view posts in wordpress
3- ‘Add new PIN’
4- Asks you if you want to add ‘Basic’, ‘Professional’ or ‘Premium’ PIN, depending on which one you select, you get a different amount of info boxes. i.e Basic has no logo. (see mock-ups)
5- I will then manually create this info into a PIN, enter the info.
6- When info is all in, click save.
7- Pin appears on the map
Summarised user/website process:
1- When a user goes to any listing, the new map (see mock-ups) will show the location of that listing, surrounded by all the PINS that have been inputted admin side.
2- The user can then click on the map to enlarge it, zoom/in out, and basically navigate like Google Maps.
3- There are all the PINS, and when a user hovers over a PIN, it loads up the infobox (see mock-ups).
Detailed features of the map (user side)
• The aesthetics to look like the mock-ups provided.
• When a user clicks on the map it opens ‘nearly full screen’, so the majority of the screen, say 80% by 80% of the screen, centred. The user can then click a ‘close’ button in the top right. – This isn’t in mock-ups, but I’m just visioning a cross, common on these pop up viewers.
• If the user has no logo, then there are a selection of default logos.
• If there are 2 PINs very close to each other, they can be grouped, (if zoomed out). However when the map is full screen, every pin must be showing, for now.
• The whole layout is responsive, so that’s worth mentioning.
• If a user hovers over a PIN, it shows the pop up window. This may have a link to their website, which when clicked opens in new tab.
• On the map, in the top right I’d like a tiny bit of text saying ‘click to enlarge’ (not in mock-ups).
• The ‘Premium PIN’ allows the admin to select from various colour schemes, 4 or 5 different .PNGs of the PIN.
Detailed features of the admin side
• Please see the ‘minisite’ notes at the very beginning. We are operating on a multisite, which can confuse things as we want it to be able to use it on all future cities.
• Just like a normal post, it’d be useful, but not necessary to be able to do features such as ‘save as draft’ and ‘delete’.
Specific technologies required: Wordpress
