Start-Up Wordpress site

I am starting a new website to help ‘start-ups connect’ with the right people, essentially a social media site that has ‘create a profile’ where they can add their skill sets and ‘live chat’ amongst those connections. This is to help start-ups connect with the right expertise. I have researched Wordpress and can offer some basic functionality and plugins. Initially though I need a wordpress designer to create a theme and set up the pages.
