Description
Experience Level: Entry
General information for the website: Gadgets
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Description of requirements/features: We have a competing website we would like to copy prices from (for certain products that we list - this can be modified by us within the script you write to make things easier)
The setup:
The competitor website has a search bar (which may be of use) to find the product we need. Although they have products setup a bit different to us.
For example. A phone will be setup by us as a variable product - so our most complicated product would be:
iPhone 7
It has 3 variation attributes:
Condition: Like New, Great, Good, Fair and Poor
Memory Size: 32GB, 128GB and 256GB
Network Lock: Unlocked, Locked
Whereas the competitor has the products laid out as:
iPhone 7 - 32GB
iPhone 7 - 128GB
iPhone 7 - 256GB
On each of their pages, they have a select box which allows you to choose whether the phone is locked or unlocked which changes the price offered based on selection.
What needs to be done:
Now what we need is a script for our Woocommerce website (WP version 4.2.2) and (WC version 2.0.13)
This script should allow us to modify which products we will be targetting on the run by product name, so iPhone 7 and so on (a loop), it will get all the variations of each product from the competitor website and gather the price. As the competitor does not give a price based on condition, we will use their base price and apply a formula to geneate the other prices. We will then apply the prices for each corresponding variation on our website.
If anyone requires any clarification or extra details please do feel free to ask.
Overall what we need is to gather the prices from the competitor, then apply the prices to our own product which is a configurable (variable) product.
