I need a wordpress site design

I need a wordpress site created. I have installed wordpress on my domain, but find it difficult to create what I really want, especially since the much I've been able to do required an unbearable lengthy period of online reading.

I need a site that will open onto a minimalist static page which will be like a hub, with 4 icons to click on, leading to four (4) sub-sites.

Each sub-site will need to show images and text in a pleasing arrangement, and visitors will be required to click on a home button to check out the other sub-sites.

I'm not sure I have used the right wording, but I do hope you get what I'm trying to describe.
