I need a status timeline plugin for wordpress

General information for the website: We provide our opinions on daily news in a quick feed
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: N/A
Description of requirements/features: We need to provide quick status updates to our users in the form of a timeline. We wish to provide commentary on sports news and updates much like the sky sports transfer news feed. http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/

Therefore the timeline must include... a feature to post quick status based news, embed code like soundcloud or youtube, custom icons to differentiate genres, selective post excerpts. We may need to create multiple timelines on multiple pages or archive timelines on a daily basis and start a new one at 00:00.
Extra notes: There are very similar plugins already and we would be interested to know if you can provide something that is very similar to this plugin with a couple of tweeks?
