Create a new sports website.

I’m planning to start a website based around the weeks pro-Golf tournaments. I’d like it designed and built in a CMS, preferably Joomla.

As a guide the site would be made up of 8 pages :-

Front page –slider, blog article links, embedded news feed, advert space etc.
Blog – this can be an extension (blogspot etc.) but themed to the site
Contact us – a fairly standard page.
Betting Odds – list of players odds with bookmaker links for that weeks tournaments.
Schedule – tour schedules for Europe, US and Majors.
Results – linked from schedule, tournament results with scores.
Preview page – this would a preview of the tournaments (normally two a week). Course details,card of course, field, preview text, embedded weather forecast.
Player Form page – a profile page tailored to the tournament for a particular player. This would include recent results and past course results.


I’d like to update from Excel files (or compatible formats) for all the pages that require updating. In the case of the Player Form page this would require around 300 pages a week from one spreadsheet. This would be my first website so I may need some help in some of the practicalities. Ease of uploading the information from the backend would be an important factor.

I’ve got a domain name, host, logo. I have a fairly clear idea of the structure and layout so I would like somebody who can work with my ideas but obviously bring their own ideas. I can provide sample data for the pages.

Provisionally I’d like the job started around mid-April to be ready for the end of April/start of May. I’d like the work split into 3 or 4 parts so we can review/revise what has been done. There would be potential for further work in the future on this or similar projects.
