Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: We manage seismic data, much of while resides on old forms of tape media.
Description of requirements/functionality: I need to connect an older tape drive (Fujitsu 2488 3490) to a new Centos 7 Linux workstation. The tape drive is differential SCSI, so I am using an older card (Adaptec 2944UW). Adaptec (now microsemi) provides source code for the Linux driver on their website (https://storage.microsemi.com/en-us/downloads/linux_source/linux_source_code/productid=aha-2944uw&dn=aha-2944uw.html), but it doesn't compile. It appears to be missing the configure file, but has an already built Makefile.
The work in question is assisting me in compiling and installing the driver. I would expect that this would include downloading the Adaptec source code in a test environment, and adding whatever additional information (possibly a configure file, definitely detailed directions) so that I can get it installed on my system. Alternately, a prebuilt driver for Centos 7 (current level 3.10.0-514.10.2.el7.x86_64) would suffice if directions are given and I can get it installed.
OS requirements: Linux
