Description
Experience Level: Expert
Task:
I need a spreadsheet written that calculates the State Pension for a person in the UK. It will take their age and gender as inputs and return how much, when and what type of pension they will get. You will need to build the logic that performs this calculation. The logic will need to be reverse engineered from the UK Government's State Pension.
Logic sources:
https://www.gov.uk/state-pension
https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-age/y/age
Requirements:
* The spreadsheet must be in Google Sheets - it cannot be in Excel.
* It must be self-contained and must not call any external services or websites.
* It can include formulas and Google Apps Script scripts.
* It must work for both the old “basic” State Pension and the new State Pension.
Input cells:
1. Date of birth, as a string = dd/mm/yyyy
The allowable date range = 01/01/1945 to 01/01/1990
2. Gender, as a string either = “male” or “female”
Output in cells:
1. Amount per calendar month in GBP e.g. £122.20
2. The year the person will reach State Pension age e.g. 2019
3. Show if they will receive the new State Pension or the old State Pension, as a string either “old” or “new”
Assume:
* Full eligibility (the maximum 30 years of contributions).
* No delay or deferment in taking the pension.
* No marriage allowance.
Deliverables: A Google Sheets Spreadsheet
Please do not apply for the task if you cannot deliver it in Google Sheets.
Kind regards,
Jonathan

Do you expect being contracted out and Serps allowance to be included in this calculation. For that you would need to know how many relevant years you were contracted out and the amount of Serps payments made! No necessarily easy information to provide.
Let Me Retire L.21 Nov 2017Good question. For this task please ignore SERPS, 'contracted out' and partial contribution cases. Anything other than straight forward contributions of the full 30 years is out of scope.
Thanks,
Jonathan
