Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
We have a live site in the UK on WordPress/WooCommerce/Flatsome using a customised store locator (about 3,300 stores)
The store locator displays the user's location on the map and the nearest stores, with a table of stores below the map
Each month 200,000 geocoding API calls to geocode location the searcher entered and 70,000 API calls to display maps (not sure why it's 3:1 ratio)
The job is to create a new plugin from scratch, all new code, to replace the existing plugin
Store the geocoding results in a local table - and when a user searches check if we already have the result locally. And only use the API for new locations not searched previously.
May need to search first part of post codes e.g. OX1 1AA - search OX1 - to get enough cache hits.
Migrate the store data across from the old tables.
Interface to add/delete/edit stores and brands
Stores belong to brands, hold data common to stores of the same brand on a brand table.
Keep the site performance/speed as fast as currently.
New page and plugin to be installed alongside existing page and plugin, so we can easily switch back to the old one in case there are problems during cut over.
Stores are only in UK and Eire.
Thanks
