Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We need a Cisco Expert to design an IP based network for a school with 3 different sites. The network must meet the following requirements:
1. Each staff member is to have their own computer
2. Each site is to have computer labs with no more than 20 workstations setup for the delivery of the ICT programme [Total number of student computers per site is calculated according to the number students - i.e. one computer for every 4 students]
3. Network to utilise Cisco Routers, Switches, Security Devices and Access Points
4. Use of Redundancy in Routing and Switching
5. Use of appropriate Routing Protocols and switching techniques
6. Network Services available include: DHCP, DNS, Email, SFTP, VLE (Virtual Learning Environment)
7. Cost to be kept to a minimum without compromising quality, security and
reliability
8. Employment of any technology to save on space money and time
9. Permanent Internet connection accessible for all staff and students
The details of the sites have been supplied (see attached).
To recap; We need a design of a network based on the requirements above (mainly 1-5). However, you should consider all requirements in selecting any hardware, software, media, etc.
TASKS:
1. Create a suitable IP addressing scheme for the Southall LAN. You may use any private/public IP addresses as required. [Create a table(s) to show where these addresses are used]
2. Using Packet Tracer and suitable hardware/routing protocols/media, design and simulate a network to show the architecture of the Southall LAN identifying only key network components (servers, switches, routers etc). Your network design need not include every workstation on every subnet. However, you should connect at least two workstations for every subnet for testing purposes. Give justification of your design. All other devices and media should be identifiable in your simulation. Security devices and Access points need not be included.
3. Create a suitable test plan and test the network for functionality.
