Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: We sell software
Description of requirements/functionality: I have 2 applications hosted on a Windows 2003 server. That server will shortly be closed down. So I need to migrate my apps to a new host provider. This job is advice and configuration. There is no code to change, I need a new host and the application folders created correctly and a place to store my database privately.
There are 3 tasks:
1. Find a host provider that supports asp.net applications. Just tell me which one to use and I will open the account and send you the login details. I prefer to use a well known provider in the USA. My apps automatically send me emails, so the host needs to support that. I don't need a lot of disk space. I do need good security. The host needs to support MS Access databases. Currently my web.config file points to the database in a private folder that is not visible from outside the server, so only the app can access it. i.e.:
<add name="XXAccessProvider" connectionString="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=F:\xxxx\private\gary.mdb"
So I would like the connection strings to point to a path name like the above.
2. One app, let's call it "Admin", needs an application folder with the right permissions to allow the app to run, write to the database and send emails. Please create an application folder called "cgi-bin/admin". I will upload the app and change the connection strings and test that it is working.
3. The other app is a wsdl and needs to be created in the following application folder: "cgi-bin/activate". I will upload the app and change the connection strings and test that it is working.
Notes:
- I used Visual Studio 2010 c# for both apps
- Domain name: I will not be moving my domain on day 1 - so I will need to be able to use some temporary address to access the site and ensure it is all working ok.
- I have multiple MS Access databases that will sit in the same private folder. The connection string will be the same folder.
That's it.
OS requirements: Windows
