Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the business: We're a research organisation
Description of requirements/functionality: I want to grab data from a partner company's website and store it in mySQL. They've provided api key etc, I just don't know how to build a client.
Calls to the api have to be in PHP, but there's some flexibility in what is done with the data after it's called. It can either go into a mySQL db or it could be a custom 'node' for Knime (knime.org), an open source data mining tool we use.
Specific technologies required: RESTful, PHP
Extra notes:
The called data will be stored in MySQL. The api will be called daily or weekly, as an update, so the results will need a timestamp.
The data we are calling are from website tests. Documentation can be found here: http://gtmetrix.com/api/
The columns I want in MySQL: URL/timestamp/browser variant/location/[metric a]/[metric b] etc.
In terms of input, I would have a list of URLs in a MySQL table. I need to be able to customise the test's browser type and location - the api documentation shows how to do this. I also want to set the frequency of the automatic api calls.
