The Problem
Childrens playground designers are using 3D modelling as a tool in the design of new playground equipment. 3D models can be constructed reasonably easily and can allow the viewer to look at them from various viewpoints (including from inside) and they can be quickly modified.

The Task

To construct a model of an item of equipment for a childrens playground - a seesaw - which must have sufficient complexity of motion to demonstrate fully your programming ability. For instance, you could have models of two riders interacting with the seesaw by bending their knees when the seesaw touches the ground.

Your equipment design is to be "built" in X3D. To assist in evaluating the design we would expect to be able to view the item from various viewpoints, and also for it to be shown moving. You should attempt to show movement against a simple fixed background.


Complexity of detail of the model.
Realistic shape.
Texture and colour applied to the model.
Movement of the model as a whole:-
complexity of the path being followed,
realism of the rotation and translation of the model as it moves.
Articulation of parts of the model.
User interaction.
Range of suitable viewpoints.
Use of sound (e.g. realistic from multiple sources).
