Our office works with a very large number of files daily and these files must be continually moved. I'm looking to have software developed such that when the user hovers over a file a window appears that shows user-defined destinations that when clicked will move the file to that location.
The majority of the files we receive would be moved into only 1-3 folders. I envision that these would appear when the document is hovered over.
However, many of these files must then be moved to client folders and there are thousands of them. So not really sure how to address this. Maybe an option when the file is hovered over would be "A-Z" which would then show a vertical listing of folders A though Z. When the corresponding letter was hovered over then all the clients within would be shown and the file could be moved there.
Right now when we have documents to be filed we just put them in a "to be filed" folder and then later someone must go back and physically move all these files into the client's folder. Very time consuming. There is a program that somewhat allows this functionality: http://www.dropitproject.com/ and https://sourceforge.net/projects/dropit/ . I’ve played with it and the problem is you have to create an individual link each and every time. So if you have thousands of folders (and we do) this is too time consuming to set up. There should be a scan function to build these automatically.
