Hi,
The goal here is to be able to generate configuration (manually ourselves, via a text editor). Then using a script, send the configuration to a list of servers via a socket connection, and apply the configuration.
The general process flow would be..
1. We would manually log onto the 'main configuration server' and manually edit one of several configuration files. The files exist in sub directories and working directories alike.
2. We expect the script, once activated, to work out which files have been changed and 'send them' via a socket connection, to a predefined list of 'recieving servers'.
3. Once the recieving servers recieve the files, they'll need to be stored in specific directories.
4. The recieving servers will need to initiate a command line command to 'active' the new configuration.
5. Once activated, the script will recieve a positive or negative response via the command line.
6. This positive or negative response needs to be passed back to the sender, so it can be logged and confirmed that the server applied the configuration. If it fails, it just needs to be logged to a 'sending server log file'.
Detail on the directory structure of the sending and recieving servers will be given when work begins. But generally speaking, you will be working with sub directories.
Budget set at 250 but happy to hear proposals.
