Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: Small Letting Agency
Kind of development: Customization of existing program
Description of requirements/functionality: Hi there,
I am a MS Access developer with over 10 years experience building VBA systems that link with Outlook, Windows, Excel, Word, etc. I am trying to move the data from my current database to Office 365 using their online Sharepoint option with Access Services.
I'm looking for someone who has expertise in SharePoint, Office 365, and potentially in linking SharePoint to Access.
I have already managed to upload a database to Office 365, but have come unstuck with regards to how to add MORE tables and their relationships. Adding the first set worked a treat, and I wanted to test that it worked for both me and one of my other team members before trying to do the rest. But then when I was sure that it was working the way I wanted to and I wanted to add more tables that related to tables already uploaded, I came unstuck and ended up having to delete the entire thing. :(
I have also got a form that captures invoice details. I managed to map a drive to a Sharepoint document list, which allowed me to create subfolders and save they physical invoices down to the list via VBA. However, on restarting my machine the mapped drive no longer worked. And it seems you have to mess about quite a lot with logging into Office 365 first, before the share is available. Nightmare, and certainly not a seamless solution!
So this is what I'm after:
- Someone who can help me to either have access to my sharepoint file storage area through windows explorer (without the temperamental experience I've been having today!).
- Someone who can tell me how to upload more tables to an existing uploaded database (and get the new tables to relate to the existing tables). This item is less important, but I do want to find someone who has experience with Office 365 and SharePoint online and accessing the information in a way other than through the web interface.
I don't really want my team to have to log into the Office 365 site every day just so that they have access to the invoices storage area, because most of my tools will within my locally stored Access front end, that will link to the data in Office 365 SharePoint.
FYI, I wrote some code that utilised the mapped drive in order to create subfolders within the sharepoint document store, and also save down a local file directly to the desired subfolder in Sharepoint. This works a treat, and I love it. It's just that access to the mapped drive and it's path seems to be VERY shaky at best.
If you know about stuff like this, please get in touch.
Thanks,
Leanne
