Description
Experience Level: Expert
Need a Android app to act as a ebook reader with book being in PDF format but with a special extension. The stream data in the PDF will be encrypted before being delivered to the device.
1. Very similar to BeamReader for Android (http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-slgmobile-beamreader-zDwA.aspx).
2. There is no need to support encrypted PDFs; I will add my own decryption later on.
3. The text needs to be render by the app using the fonts embedded in the PDF, rather than using the device fonts (as with BeamReader).
4. The PDF should not be saved to a file, even a temporary file, so that the security of the content is assured. One page at a time may be read and rendered in such a way that I will have the opportunity to decrypt the stream data before it is rendered.
5. The ebooks will primarily be in arabic so right-to-left rendering of unicode text should be handled properly (BeamReader does it).
6. As with BeamReader, pages will be viewed in single, continuous mode, with the user able to zoom and pan.
7. The app needs to be able to handle PDF 1.3 to the extent possible but text, vector graphics, and images in layers is the minimum.
I will purchase a library if required but it must not limit the number of readers I may distribute.
Update 1: a) The app needs to be a native Android app compiled and built using the Android SDK; b) should be built around a PDF library so that I will not have to test and maintain the core PDF rendering.
