Description
Experience Level: Expert
A developer amalgamated several sets of digital vector map data into one installation file but the large file causes a memory exception fault on loading on 32-bit Windows computers. A single large file was thought to be more efficient but its size caused the memory exception error on loading it.
I require C# developer to create several separate installation files of digital vector map data which can be deployed and installed separately on 32-bit Windows desktop computers.
The job involves modifying or commenting out the C# code which builds a single large installation file with several sets of vector map data and a replacing it with C# code for creating several separate installation files, one for each set of map data.
The software was originally designed, implemented and tested using several separate files of digital vector map data. It worked successfully for over a decade until it was changed last year to use one single large file of digital map data in order to make the application "more efficient!"
The job requires knowledge and skills in C# .Net, software development, building and testing.
The job must be done in our office in Leeds LS7 2DR, UK and should take 1.5 to 2 days to complete.
The revised software has to be checked and tested in order to make sure that it works correctly on a 32-bit windows computer.
Knowledge and skills in using SVN required.
Description of requirements/functionality: The raw digital map data files are available. They were combined into a single file but we require them to be buid as several separate .msi files for download and installation on customers' computers.
Specific technologies required: C# .NET, MS Visual Studio 2010, SVN, vector map data files
OS requirements: Windows 32-bit
Extra notes: Work must be done in the office in Leeds LS7. Can be done in evening or at weekends by arrangement.
