Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: This is a personal project for a "robotic orchestra" I am making.
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: I am a hobbyist/maker with no programming background. I'm working on a personal project where I am using MIDI data to control wirelessly connected instruments. I have included a diagram which will give you a sense of what I am trying to create - see attachment.
Tx side of system
==============
MIDI data is received via USB from my mac. The MIDI "note" value will signify which instrument is to receive a data packet that consists of one byte - the MIDI note "velocity" value.
The packet is sent with an "ack" using Radiohead library to the designated instrument.
Rx side of system
==============
The received packet must be confirmed with the sender. The velocity data then needs to be stored in variable so it can be processed.
Other requirements
================
1 - The code must be well documented to help me understand what you did. Please provide code examples with your response.
2 - Latency must be minimized. (It is a music project).
3 - Radio hardware is Adafruit RFM69HCW transceiver
4 - Tx code light an LED to show it is ready to send MIDI data
5 - Rx code lights and LED to show it is ready to receive data. As part of the "ready" process the Rx (Instrument) should send a "handshake" message to the Tx code which will confirm receipt. The Tx code should respond to each instrument that sends a handshake message. (When the system i.e. Tx side and any instruments that are used is switched on, all components indicate that they are ready by turning on a "ready" status indicator)
6 - ****** VERY IMPORTANT ****** You must have Arduinos and RFM69HCW circuits in your workshop so you can test all code is working before you send it to me.
Specific technologies required: Arduino - MIDI - RFM69HCW
Extra notes: Please contact me for clarification as to what is needed for this project.
I am open to suggestions if you have any ideas for improving the functionality of this system.
Please include summary information about relevant projects where you have used the technology in my system.
