Description
Experience Level: Expert
To enable people to calculate the ceiling loudspeaker requirements for a room/space.
This requires the following information to be entered by the user:
• The room/space parameters
o Width, length and height of room/space
o Noise in the room/space
• The loudspeaker to be used
• The performance requirements
o How much louder than the noise do the broadcasts need to be?
o What percentage of the space at the listening plane must achieve this loudness?
The loudspeaker will be part of a database so the user will first select a manufacturer and then a loudspeaker from that manufacturer – which will then provide parameters to be used in the calculations
Calculated Output
For each loudspeaker there will be three lots of results as follows:
• The power needed for each loudspeaker
• The quantity of loudspeakers
• The total power needed (multiplying the above two results)
• The spacing across the width and spacing along the length of the room/space
The results needed to be saved and further spaces/rooms can then be calculated so a whole project can then be created which consists of multiple rooms.
So in addition to the above data we need two user entries one for the project name and one for the individual room/space name in that project.
The results will then be available in a table and capable of being outputted to a spreadsheet or word processing document. We want to have a totals perhaps on a second page that details the quantity of each type of loudspeaker and the total power for the project.
Your Skills/Knowledge
You must speak fluent English and preference will be given to UK based providers as working on this across time zones has proven difficult with other projects.
We have just created this on our website but we had to go through quite a few designers. We believe it is quite simple and we have done all the calculations and reproduced it in excel.
For someone with a good level of mathematics this should be quite easy but if you struggle with mathematics please don’t respond.
So your essential skills will need to be writing code to create an iPhone app which is mathematical using logarithms, angles (that will need to be converted from radians to degrees and back) and inverse logarithms to base 10 and pulling data from a built in database to the app.
If you can also create the GUI for the iPhone that would be great however, we are happy to find someone else for this aspect, but you will need to work closely with them to ensure that the app is fully integrated.
We will provide a full specification including methods, equations and calculations once we have selected three suitable providers.
We will look to add enhancements over time and may want to limit some aspects of the app so we can create a free (lite) and full (chargeable version).
Any app produced including all coding will be our intellectual property and copyright once we have paid you in full, only bid if you accept this requirement.
You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement should you be chosen as one of the three final bidders.
We reserve the right to not choose any of the bidders or to re-advertise this project.
