Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: Photo printing business
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: We have a client that is extremely anxious to have an iOS app built ASAP. I’ve included some background info below on what we are looking to have done. If you are interested in the project, can give me a quote (rough is fine) in the next 24 hours on the cost to build this? I know it’s short notice and the holiday is looming. We just need to let him know quickly.
The client is a company that has a simple application that allows the iPhone user to upload the photos they have on their iPhone to a local drug store to have printed. They can then go into the store and pick them up. There are only 3 or 4 sizes to choose from and there’s no manipulation of photos or anything. Just simply order your prints. This app was built for them by the company that acts as the API bridge to drugstores printing equipment.
What they want to do is basically duplicate that app (though we have no access to the original app source code) but have it instead communicate with the new Kodak Alaris API, which is a relatively simple REST JSON service. This API is completely built and currently they are connected to Target and Bartell’s counters all over the country. Eventually they claim they will be connected to over 100K retail counters for printing.
Kodak has gone to the extent of building a sample iOS app and provided the code for it, which I’ve attached along with a screen print from their page on using their API. Their system at this moment isn’t giving me access to the actual API docs but I can get those to you (and developer account access where you can test api calls etc) if you’d like to take the job.
Anyway, the company would like to start by doing an app with the same basic function as the CVS app but to be “branded” as company @ Target. This app will connect to Kodak and allow the user to choose any target by entering a zip code. Once this app is in the wild, they will then want to reskin it with Bartell’s branding. Then the next retailer etc.
Since Kodak has already done most of the coding work, I would think it wouldn’t take too much to swap out the UI and put in new graphics that just tie to what they have built. But I’m not an iOS app developer so I can’t know that for sure.
Please review the attachments and let me know what you think.
OS requirements: Mac OS
