General information for the business: Development and sales of golf products and services
Description of requirements/functionality: After a first contractor was extremely slow and then became ill literally days before this project was to be completed (and is still out indefinitely while still having my money), and after a second contractor has just totally flopped with some more of my money while failing to deliver anything useful in time for an annual trade show, I am now in a position where the patent protection period is half over for this system with nothing to show for it yet and essentially back to square one for finding a suitable contractor(s) to help.
This is a golf-related project that the industry needs very badly at this point in order to prevent the clubfitting trade from continuing its horrible and embarrassing performance record and reputation. Some knowledge of and/or interest in golf and the game's future might be a plus but is not required.
The needed device(s) will likely comprise 3-D wireless motion detection that attaches to a golf club and gathers accurate, stable 3-D golf club motion data (and absolute position would ultimately be helpful as well but not initially critical) during golfer pre-swing movement (before the backswing of any golf swing [including any practice swing] even begins). (I do not rule out a video or other type system if accurate and convenient enough for golfers to use). Further required is an appropriate algorithm(s) and application software to help decipher a critical pre-swing rotation point location developed and existing only during this period (which most golfers develop but at various locations) that essentially divides the golf club's length into two sections during the pre-swing. These can be extremely small and quick movements of varying directions that need to be precisely analyzed.
The determined rotation point location is then applied (in the form of an adjustable fulcrum location) on a discrete scale for balancing golf clubs (which also needs to be developed), cumulatively resulting in a new golf club specification named "waggle weight." For those familiar enough with golf, this is a technical advancement of the already-long-proven golf club specification named swing weight or swingweight.
Time is of the essence to say the least. What is needed first is an operational hardware/software prototype, even crudely done (but accurate in its operation), with which to gather and analyze some initial golfer data to see if the project should then move further along. I am fairly confident that an off-the-shelf hardware sensor device can be initially quickly identified and used, basically leaving application and/or algorithm development that can hopefully be done more quickly and inexpensively for an initial prototype unit. The initial platform type does not seem critical other than being time and cost efficient to produce. Help is ultimately needed for both hardware and software development in order to finally get the product(s) to market.
Some supplemental and potentially helpful information can be found through:
US Patent Number 8,074,495;
A crude but copyright-registered 25-minute video link at https://www.dropbox.com/s/86xzqwobgfkr57f/waggle%20weight%20introduction.wmv; and
Article link http://www.waggleweight.com/blog/2014/07/16/to-help-or-not-to-help-the-deplorable-golf-club-fitting-trade-that-is-the-question/ plus other links accessible through this article link containing other project, company, and personal information.
I ask anyone that is interested, able, and willing to skillfully help finally bring any part(s) of this project to fruition in short to please consider contacting me with any additional questions or comments. With other leading-edge projects beyond this one already in early development and further improvements in this project also expected over time, the potential for an enterprising and profitable longer-term relationship exists (though certainly not mandatory). Per hour and fixed price can both be considered. Thank you.
