Memory games are fun. They are even more fun when they are created with the family. Sitting down, cutting paper squares and making pairs of drawings on them; then, putting them in a shoebox. Lastly, giving this game a name! Many skills are involved in this activity: attention to the game, spatial memory, visual memory, all of which are interconnected in the child’s mind as they exercise different abilities simultaneously. In order to do so, we should respect the stages in the child’s cognitive development. It is a trial-and-error game, in which each person has their turn – thus, other social and emotional aspects will be on focus too. Here, the role of the parents and of the family as role models is very important.
